My Painting Portfolio contains my experiments with color and pushing beyond the borders. Not as much related by a cohesive theme, but rather a vibrant and punchy style with a dash of glitter.

“Bang! 123 Say Cheese”— 22×16 inch oil

This self-portrait was meant to resemble the color scheme and sharp style of old comic book art. Every color used was mixed from red, blue, and yellow to keep the color palette punchy and cohesive. My hand sticking out was meant to reference a 4th wall break, a somewhat common occurrence in comic books today. And of course I had to add glitter.

Past Commissions

Both of these commissions were done with acrylic painting on an 8×10 inch canvas.

Plein Air study— 9×12 inch oil

Simply put, I hate doing landscapes, so I forced myself to do a plien air study in my backyard. The colors and tick textures were a way to make this fun for me while conveying a chipper tone.

“!!!”— 6×6 inch oil

Another excuse for me to add glitter, I treated this piece as a perfect time to experiment with various textures to depict the roughness of the fish’s scales and the smoothness of the seal’s skin. The fish is a pop-out, slightly slanted upward to look like it is passing by the seal. I wanted to make an action scene where you know what happens next without me telling you.

“Spandex meets Leather” — 22×16 inch Oil

I went all out with the pop-outs, glitter, and color in this piece. My main purpose was self-indulgence, as a comic book fan, this was a scene that came straight from my head, but was most definitely inspired by a number of pages from my favorite comic books.
